 Gemstones:  Snowflake Obsidian      

Snowflake obsidian is the mineral equivalent of the Chinese symbol yin/yang, representing the unity of the opposing forces that govern our universe.  This is because of the inverse shades of black and white indicative of these stones. 

Obsidian is formed by the rapid cooling of volcanic lava thus creating the smooth, shiny and very sharp surface luster.  The "snowflakes" are actually mica or feldspar impurities.  It is believed that this stone helps one find something that is lost or hidden, and that it is useful in the initial phases of a new project or relationship whether professional or of a personal nature.
