Mohs' hardness scale

 Gemstones:  Aventurine

Aventurine is a variety of quartz which, in the 18th century, lent it's name to a type of luster glass invented in Italy.  The procedure consists of incorporating tiny fragments of shiny metals into the molten glass mixture.  Natural stone aventurine such as the ones used in this jewelry, are often referred to as "Indian Jade" .

Often sculpted, this lovely green stone is associated with games of chance and gambling.  Some call it the betting stone.  In Tibet, in earlier times, aventurine was believed to have the power to increase perception and eyesight.  Today, some people believe the wearing these stones can increase one's chances of success in a new job or project.  It is said to help increase self-confidence.

Hardness on Mohs' scale:  7
